Game Recap

Springfield defeated cross-town rival South Range by a score of 3-2, to avenge yesterday’s loss to the Lady Pirates. Springfield pitcher Josie Applegarth limited South Range to five hits while recording two strikeouts and no walks. Springfield scored all of their runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Lindsey Druschel led off the inning with a triple to right field. The next batter, Cassie Bacon was hit by a pitch. Applegarth followed with a ground ball to deep short and Druschel beat the throw to the plate for Springfield’s first run. The next batter, Jacqueline Kish, flew out to left field. Molly Pontius followed with a single to load the bases. Marlie Applegarth then cracked a single driving in courtesy runners Ellie Centofanti and Mya Duskey. South Range scored a single run in the 5th and 6th innings to tighten the score. In the top of the 7th, Applegarth set down the side in order to seal the win for Springfield.

For South Range, Felicia Gatta and Hope Thomas both hit doubles. Caragyn Yanek was the losing pitcher for South Range. Yanek gave up five hits and walked three.
