In the D-3 district semi-final game, the Springfield Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Indians of Girard by a score of 9-5. With the win, Springfield advances to the district championship game tomorrow, at 5:00 PM, at South Range High School.
The pitching duo of Jacqueline Kish and Abby Joseph led the way for Springfield as they limited Girard to seven hits. Kish was the starter and pitched the first four innings. Joseph came on in relief and pitched the final three innings to preserve the win. The combo of Kish and Joseph combined for five strikeouts and three walks.
Jacqueline Kish led Springfield’s offense as she smacked a double and a single and drove in three runs. Kish also scored once. Mya Duskey chipped in with a triple and a single. Duskey drove in one run and scored twice. Cassie Bacon hit a pair of singles and drove in two. Abby Joseph hit a double and a single. Makenzy Capouellez hit a double and scored twice, and Kaelen Yemma hit a single to round out the Tigers ten-hit attack. Marlie Applegarth drove in one run and scored twice.
For Girard, Sophia Griffith hit a solo home run. Pitcher Samantha Dohy helped her own cause with a pair of singles.
With the win, Springfield improved their season record to 20-3.
