Senior pitcher Jacqueline Kish limited the Lady Rams to only three hits as Springfield defeated Mineral Ridge 3-0. Kish struck out twelve batters and did not allow any walks.
Kish let the Ridge know early on that she was in charge, as she struck out the first five batters she faced in the game.
The contest was scoreless until the top of the third inning. With two outs Marlie Applegarth smacked a triple down the left field line. The next batter, Molly Pontius, launched a bomb over the left field fence to give Springfield a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers plated their third run in the top of the seventh inning. Carlee Bacon led off the inning with a single. Two outs later, with Bacon on third base, Abby Joseph belted a single to left field, scoring Bacon with the Tigers third and final run of the game.
Pontius led Springfield’s offense with a single and a two-run home run. Carlee Bacon and Mya Duskey chipped in with a pair of singles each.
