Springfield traveled to Beaver Local Thursday night with an undefeated regular season on the line. Beaver Local gave the Tigers their only regular season loss last year so Springfield wanted to make up for that blemish. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead as Kylee Kosek scored within the first 10 minutes. Kosek put two more in before halftime giving the Tigers a 3-0 advantage off assists from Gracie Venturella (2) and Ava DiMiaolo (1). Kosek assisted on a corner to Gianna Latronica, who put in a beautiful header, before Kosek finished off the scoring with 2 more for a total of 5 on the night. The Tigers defense once again played tough, only giving up a goal on a penalty kick. Caitlin Cappelli collected 4 saves and cleared several balls to keep the Beavers away from the net.
Beaver Local got 15 saves from keeper Hailey Russel and MaitLynn Buck scored the PK.
Springfield finishes undefeated for the first time in the history of the program. They will play the winner of Conneaut and Cardinal in their first tournament game on Thursday, October 22, 6:00 at Springfield.
